Nettles, raspberry leaves, iris, calendula, black chokeberries, elderberries, blueberries, sea buckthorn, raspberries, blackberries, greater celandine, St John’s wort, mallow, buckthorn, blood-red webcap, rotten porcini, soil, onion skins, cabbage, spices, nuts, overripe fruit, kitchen leftovers, paper, wool, natural pigments and inks, weather notes.
The table is being set. It fills with whatever grows, falls, rots, crawls, composts, and eventually finds its way from the kitchen. Onion skins, cabbage, elderberries, soup spices, nettles, calendula, raspberry leaves, irises, blueberries, buckthorn, greater celandine, St John’s wort, mushrooms, soil, fallen nuts, and many other ingredients gathered from the surrounding landscape. Some call them weeds, some call them pests, some call them treasures – and some are already on their way to becoming something else. Pigments and inks emerge, soaking into paper, wool, and canvas. The installation is a small archive of gathering and transformation – a colour palette drawn from several meadows, forests, and gardens, including the garden at Bubec.
