This publication, Taiteen metsittymisestä – Harjoitteita jälkifossiilisiin oloihin (On Art Becoming Forested – Exercises for Post-Fossil Conditions), is the first Finnishlanguage anthology of articles on artistic practices investigating post-fossil thinking. The publication is based on the Taidet- ta luonnon ehdoilla? (”Art on nature’s terms?”) symposium held in September 2017 at the Mustarinda house in north eastern Finland. Here the artists who participated in the symposium present their artistic experiments conducted on the Paljakanvaara hill in the wilderness of Kainuu region and the forms of thinking inspired by these experiments. The symposium was organised by visual artist and researcher Markus Tuormaa and visual artist and researcher Henna Laininen, both of whom are doctoral students at the Helsinki Academy of Fine Arts. In addition to the organizers, the symposium participants included performance-maker and researcher Saara Hannula, environmental artist
Timo P. Vartiainen and visual artist Isla Peura.
